You think we owe you gentle respect because you're so wise that you know you need to leave so gosh you must be really insightful? Yes, the "why" matters, but you can figure out the "why" once you have stopped referring to him as your boyfriend. Until then you are accepting your role as a sad statistic, and you really can't why that might make someone think you need some harsh reality therapy? If you know he's abusive and you know you need to leave, why is he still your boyfriend? Listen to yourself answer that question out loud and maybe you'll why you aren't getting any sympathy here. If you had a friend who was in your situation and you asked her why she stayed, what the hell would you say to her when her answer was "I once I've figured out why he acts like this" with a straight face? You aren't a victim of doestic violence. Yes, verbal is traumatizing, but it isn't domestic violence. I think you made this whole story up but on the off that you aren't trolling, let me be perfectly dispicably honest with you: You are belittling the struggle of every woman who fears leaving her attacker and it is incredibly fucking insulting. Victims of ACTUAL domestic violence aften don't seek help because they fear the violence escalate. What's your excuse? Afraid his words get meaner if you try to leave? Eff that, you have the opportunity to leave without fear of retribution and you stay because you think you'll eventually crack the mystery of why he's an asshole and then what? He'll change?
